Patterns in hardwood, including parquet and herringbone designs, are currently trendy. Since luxury vinyl plank is an authentic simulation of genuine wood, you can easily echo this design with luxury vinyl (sometimes referred to as LVF). LVP is cut into planks, so all you do is lay them out to be parquet, herringbone, chevron, brick lay, or diagonal.

If you want stone or tile

Marble floors, especially in the bath, are hot, as are slate, travertine, terrazzo, granite, and other LVF stone looks. Big, bold, colorful geometrics, such as hexagons and circles; fauna; flora, and, of course, chevron and herringbone patterns can even be made to mimic large format tiles because some people use plank for tile (or stone) looks.

Have you seen it yet?

You know that luxury vinyl comes in some pretty realistic wood, stone, or tile looks by this time. It's all taken with high-definition photography, making the images vivid and accurate, showing veining variations and wood characteristics like knots and grains. There are no flat images here because micro beveling and embossing add depth, dimension, and textured looks.

Besides plank, it can also be cut into square, tile-sized pieces that can be used with or without grout, called luxury vinyl tile or LVT. Many feel the extra seams add to the realism, while others think plank's large format and fewer seams give it a more continuous look–like that of a stone slab or a large format tile.

It's all durable, with a top transparent, melamine layer protecting the floor from scratches and scuffs. A clear urethane finish adds extra strength and shine. It should also be mentioned here that this vinyl is entirely waterproof, whether it is submerged or spilled on.

As is all vinyl, this is low maintenance and only needs regular sweeping and periodic mopping. Installation is also uncomplicated, especially when it's a floating floor where the pieces click together, mat, and hover over the subfloor without adhesives.
